Bicibox is a service from the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) that manages a secure parking network for private bicycles and a fleet of shared electric bicycles. Both the car park network and the bicycle fleet are distributed by the different municipalities of the AMB so that any citizen can use it once registered as a user at www.bicibox.cat.
The Bicibox service comprises two modes:
• Bicibox ticket: it allows you to have a secure parking space for a particular bicycle, as many times as you want (hourly limitations apply) to the metropolitan municipalities where the service is implemented.
• e-Bicibox ticket: it allows to have a shared electric bicycle to travel within a municipality or between metropolitan municipalities where the service is implemented. Time constraints and rates are applied for use.
The main objectives of the Bicibox service are to encourage the use of bicycles (private or shared) as a means of sustainable daily mobility, which complements on-site journeys and metropolitan public transport services.
